Looking down into the reactor core. Don't worry that's a plastic window below my feet and the usual blue glow is being absorbed by all the concrete inside the core.
The Zero Power Reactor No. 3 (ZPR-3) was used for testing of core designs.
The reactor core rod hot box and rod farm (foreground).
The hot box has windows made of 37 layers of leaded glass and mineral oil.
Inside the second (of 3) materials transfer rooms for the breeder jacket. This room has thick hot box windows. Being in here made me nervous.
Heat Transfer Reactor Experiment No. 2 (HTRE-2) was an experiment in nuclear aircraft propulsion.
Heat Transfer Reactor Experiment No. 3 (HTRE-3) was another like HTRE-2.
