Motorcycle Bargains On The Internet
The trick here is to use pointers to sites that are "after thoughts" of
newspaper classifieds. Do not use advertisers whose known marketing target
is the whole internet. If the base of advertising is known to the person
placing the ad, and that base happens to be world wide, then the seller is
likely to seek a selling price in line with the highest bid in a very large
pool. If, on the other hand, the seller thinks he is selling only
within a known and limited market or geographical area, then he is not likely to
expect his selling price to be over what he is used to in his local market. If
this is the case bargains may be found because of differences in local market
forces.
If you are considering acquiring a motorcycle at long distance here are a few tips:
- Have the bike checked out by an authorized service center.
- Use a payment method that leaves a followable trail in case the seller is
thinking of doing the wrong thing.
- Look up the address of the other guy to make sure he exists. For instance, I
used the WhoWhere search engine to verify
that the seller really had a residence and business.
- Leave yourself an escape hatch just in case the deal is not what you thought
when you get to where the bike is.

About These Bookmarks
Some (perhaps most) of these pointers may be out of date. Some may be completly
dead, while others may point to pages that are not the original targets but are
still part of the target's site. Not much can be done for the dead ones but the
others can still be of use. The not-quite-dead ones will often point to a page
that can be used to find the index of the site and from there the classified ads
pages that were probably the intended target can be found.
