Rule Modifications
Welcome to the Arne Saknussemm Memorial Revolutionary Brigade
(ASMRB) directory at davidwoolsey.com.
Here you will find some of the ASMRB rule modifications for Hero System games
that we play. Some of them are also available in PDF format in case you want to print them out on
paper or keep self-contained electronic copies.
All documents found within this directory tree are copyright ASMRB Rules
Adjustment Comity unless noted otherwise. Michael Blum wrote just about all the
documents and examples while I'm responsible for the "theory" behind the rule
modifications as well as the HTML translation and formatting.
Visit the Yahoo! Clubs ASMRB
page or the official ASMRB web site for more
information about who these foolish gamers are and what they're up to.
- Index of PDF format rules documents available.
We recommend that you download these to keep for your reference.
- New ASMRB "Sub-Hero" v.3.2
character sheet PDFs for male or female characters. What's so new about them? The hit locations have been changed.
(Note: you will need a 600 dpi printer with margins no bigger than 0.25" to
print the character sheet PDF documents correctly. Sorry.)
These sheets will be updated soon with the new hit location mappings. Stay
tuned...
- Rules Changes 1.5 is
the main document. Get it in one very large piece or in (much smaller)
sections:
- Armor Examples - a table of
characteristic armor examples.
- Armor Materials - a table of armor
material characteristics.
- Concealment Rules - how to hide things
away.
- Character Disadvantages - a very short set
of descriptions.
- Explosive Devices - examples of
explosive weapons and devices.
- New Hit Location
Table - After attending the Front
Sight Four Day Defensive Handgun class I have come to the conclusion
that the HERO System hit location tables are more than a bit unrealistic. I
have made some improvements to the location maps based on what I learned.
Note that the new locations should increase the lethality of hits so it
might not be advisable to use the mortality rule additions.
- Mental Talents Quick Reference for
use of mental/psionic powers under Hero rules.
- Physical Adept Rules for use in a
Shadowrun campaign adapted to use Hero rules.
- Radiation Effects Chart - derived and
adapted from The Effects of Nuclear Weapons, USAEC, 1962.
- Traveller Psionics In Hero System -
rules and conventions.
CURRENTLY OUT OF DATE
- Shotgun Effects - a table of typical
shotgun characteristics.
- Firearms: 17th Century -
characteristics of typical firearm weapons from the 1600s.
- Small Arms: 19th Century -
characteristics of typical small arm weapons from the 1800s.
- Small Arms: 20th Century -
characteristics of typical small arm weapons from the 1900s.
Available in one big piece (it's a big, slow, table...) or by section:
- Small Arms Ammunition, both modern
and historical — in one piece or by ammunition type:
- Index of Generic Vehicle Hit
Location Tables or the individual vehicle tables themselves:
- Comprehensive skill lists: fairly complete lists of potential character
skills.
Support Docs. & Reference Materials
Here you will find a collection of documents that may be useful in making
determinations of how to represent real world capabilities in game rules. Such
questions as "What is the appropriate (game) skill level for a qualified (real
world) expert in this or that?" may be answered here (a few now and more
later...).
- Cavalry Qualification is
based on an historical army training manual and provides a suggestive
indication of what it is to be a trained cavalry swordsman (with no combat
experience).
- Protection criteria for a full
modern suit of combat armor from a DARPA solicitation.
- A comparison of body armor
protection levels and their associated implied game values.
